Paper such as junk mail, newspaper, magazines, office and school paper can be recycled.
Cardboard boxes take up a lot of space. Breaking them down, or flattening them before placing them in the curbside or drop off container saves space and creates additional capacity to recycle even more items.
Paper, plastic and aluminum cups are accepted for recycling. Cups should be empty, & straws removed.

On average, every resident throws away 4-5 pounds of material each day, including clothing, furniture, and other items that could be donated instead.
Even aerosol cans can be recycled, as long as they haven’t contained something hazardous, like insect killer. Tips should be removed.
Fifteen percent (15%) of landfilled material in Franklin County is food scraps, adding to the 76% of material that could be diverted each year through composting or recycling.
